After School Tutoring
Do you need help with homework?
The School District of Seward, in cooperation with students in Concordia University's teacher education program, is offering tutoring for students who need help with homework.
Students at Seward High School may go to the High School Media Center between 6:30 and 8:30 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday evenings. There will be at least one teacher from Seward High School present, along with Concordia students. High school students may receive help on homework or utilize media center computers to complete homework assignments. Students are encouraged to attend; however, this is an opportunity for students to get help, not a social event, so we are expecting students to utilize this time wisely.
Tutoring is also available for younger students at the Seward Youth Center across the street west of the middle school. Again, this is a cooperative venture with Concordia University's teacher education students, and the youth center, with the emphasis of helping our students with their homework. Tutoring help will be available at the Youth Center from 4:00 to 5:15 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
Both tutoring opportunities are open to any student who needs help. These opportunities are not focused on students who might be failing a class--our goal is to help any student willing to put forth the effort.
As in the past, students are still encouraged to talk to their teachers if help is needed. Our teachers are very good about working with students before, during, and after school, yet time is limited and schedules don't always allow.
The afternoon and evening tutoring sessions will provide additional opportunities for students in need.
