Board of Education Study Session Minutes

The School District of Seward Board of Education held a study session as part of the regular board meeting March 8, 2010 at 5:32 p.m. in the Discovery Center, Third Floor of the Middle School Building, located at 3rd and South Streets, Seward, Nebraska.
The President called the study session to order at 5:35 p.m. stating that the session had been preceded by advance publicized notice and was convened in open session.
REMINDER OPEN MEETING LAW
The President reminded those in attendance that a copy of the open meetings act is posted on the west wall of the Discovery Center.
On roll call all Board Members were present except Garske who was detained and would be arriving late.
Moved Williams seconded Duer to excuse Garske from the Study Session. On roll call the vote was as follows: Voting Yes: Williams, Duer, Rumery, Pekarek, Seaman. Voting No: None. Absent and Not Voting: Garske. Motion carried.
Dr. Barnes began the discussion regarding the Middle School Project. He introduced representatives from The Clark Enersen Partners and Jerry McCall from Education Consultant Services. A timeline for the informational phase, the documentation phase, the bidding phase and the construction phase was presented and explained to those in attendance by Jeffre Chadwick and Tim Ripp from The Clark Enersen Partners.
Garske arrived at 6:10 p.m.
Dennis Scheer from The Clark Enersen Partners explained the process used for site selection and the ranking system he will use to rank the sites that are being considered. That ranking will be presented at the April Board meeting for further discussion.
Jerry McCall from Education Consultants explained the education program and his estimates for square footage for the proposed project.
There being no further business the meeting was adjourned at 6:58 p.m.
