Teachers Analyze Student Data

During the professional development day on October 19th, teachers in all three buildings analyzed 75 pages of student performance data.  The tasks at hand were to identify areas of strength and weakness in our educational programming and formulate school improvement goals in the areas of need.

By the end of the day, many hours of valuable discussion had taken place and drafts of new school improvement goals had been developed.  Over the next couple of months, teachers will meet to explore the research related to best practices to address the newly formed goals.  From that research, adjustments will be made to current practices and new initiatives will be identified.

Once the plan has been formulated on how to address our areas of concern within the data, additional training will be scheduled and specific time lines generated to put these ideas into practice.  Data will continue to be collected and analyzed to measure changes in student performance once the measures are implemented.

The student data packet that was analyzed may be downloaded in .pdf format from within the following article: Seward Public Schools Data Review - 2009 (this document is large at 13.5mb)

If you have any questions about the activities conducted on our professional development days, please contact Brad Best, Director of Curriculum & Staff Development, at brad.best@connectseward.org.
