Kinzi Roth Selected Youth Rotarian Student of the Year 2009!
Seward High Senior, Kinzi Roth was selected the 2009 Youth Rotarian Student of the Year based on her activities, leadership, scholarship and “Service Above Self.”. The award was announced and presented at the annual SHS Honors Night at the new theater on May 5th at 8:00 pm by Rotarian Clark Kolterman. She is the daughter of Kraig and –Pam Roth of Milford.
Kinzi is very involved in the high school, currently serving as the co-president of the SHS FFA with 159 members! She is a four year member of FFA, a three year member of National Honor Society, a three year member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes and participated in SHS basketball, cross country, volleyball and track. Kinzi was the co-captain of the cross country team for two year. She has been on the SHS Honor Roll every quarter of her high school career.
She attends the Milford Mennonite Church and is very involved with their church youth group. She served as an “Outdoor Educator” for the middle school program. She is employed outside the home and has work a variety of jobs, presently employed at Perkins in Lincoln.
She plans to attend Oklahoma Wesleyan and study youth ministry/missions-hoping to eventually go overseas and work with missions. She plans to also have a minor in Spanish and Business Administration.
In the area of “Service Above Self,” which is the Rotary International club motto, Kinzi has served on mission trips to New Orleans, Rapid City, Nashville, Chicago and Phoenix, as well as working with various Red Cross and Salvation Army projects and events. She was also very involved in the many service projects associated with the SHS FFA.
She was previously recognized at the local Seward Rotary weekly luncheon meeting, as a student of the month and presented mementos from the Rotary Club, along with a book scholarship. She was now presented a scholarship for $250 as the Youth Rotarian Student of the Year!
Other finalists for the award included Seward High Seniors Phil Friedrich, John Wiemer, JT Cattle, Robert Kolterman, Theresa Honeycutt, Nathan Broeker, Ryan Coufal and Jenna Hoins. Each finalist was also recognized at a Rotary Club luncheon and also on stage and presented with a framed certificate from the Seward Rotary Club at the SHS Honors Night.
The club plans to continue this service project of recognizing outstanding young adults that have given service to their community, church and school. The applications will be available next fall at the beginning of the school year.
